Drove back from Greenwich through dust and shit and fumes of London, Blackwall Tunnel horrific, getting past Bow horrific, Hackney, Dalston all horrific. Made it back to striking distance of my manor. Stuck in Henley's Corner. Sunlight had come out now. Crisp autumnal light hitting the tops of trees. Traffic given a more summery hue. But the stench and dust and shit of pollution still hung heavy in the air. The roads were filthy, the motorways were filthy, the small pathetic pieces of pavement lining them were filthy. Stuck in traffic at Henley's Corner, the cars like depressing wildebeest on a migration going nowhere, I noticed a down and out fucked by existence standing on a corner looking over a barrier towards some trees.
