RUSSIA: EMPIRE OF ANTISEMITISM

Russia's bid to liquidate the Jewish Agency is the latest installment of their antisemitic playbook

The Russian Justice Ministry has requested the liquidation of the Jewish Agency in Russia.

The Jewish Agency is the largest Jewish non-profit organisation in the world. Established in 1929 it’s stated mission is to:

“Ensure that every Jewish person feels an unbreakable bond to one another and to Israel no matter where they live in the world, so that they can continue to play their critical role in our ongoing Jewish story.”

The Jewish Agency has offices in many countries. Among the various remits of its charitable mission, the agency facilitates Jews who have an interest in emigrating to Israel.

Organisations that help emigration are a phenomenon around the world. Not least there is the UN’s International Organisation for Migration (IOM) which states it’s mission thus:

“IOM supports migrants across the world, developing effective responses to the shifting dynamics of migration and, as such, is a key source of advice on migration policy and practice.”

So it’s fairly unexceptional for an organisation to be located within a certain country and to facilitate emigration from that country.

However, in an antisemitic world, actions that wouldn’t warrant a second glance when performed by non-Jews are regarded as sinister and mischievious when undertaken by Jews.

Russia has accused the Jewish Agency of “illegally gathering information”, exposed its staff to allegations of being “foreign agents”, and now seeks to eliminate this Jewish charity for good.

When it comes to antisemitism Russia really is a super power. It is an Empire of Antisemitism. A global exporter of Jew hate. They created the forgery “The Protocols of the Elders of Zion” - the foundational conspiracy tract of alleged Jewish power. They are the architects of the “Zionism is racism” slander that leftwing zombies and Islamist extremists blindly follow and persecute Jews for. They created the Pale of Settlement forbidding Jews to live anywhere but the biggest crapholes of Russia. They loved their murderous pogroms of Jews. Under communism Jews couldn’t practise Judaism or live fully as Jews. And now a Jewish charity is being criminalised and accused of espionage.

The timing makes sense and fits Russia’s well-rehearsed pattern of scapegoating Jews for its problems.

As Russia struggles in its criminal war against Ukraine, it’s useful for Russia to blame their failures on a Jewish enemy within - one that allegedly thwarts what would otherwise be the success of Mother Russia.

Nothing lets leaders off the hook or brings a population together so well as blaming Jews. It’s an old Russian tune that everyone knows the words and can sing along to.

And as Russia grows more isolated in the international community, hating on Jews is a tab Russia will happily pay in order to entrench alliances with Jew-hating regimes such as theocratic Iran.

The cynicism with which Russia will turn on it’s Jews for political expediency is shameless.

Here’s your reminder that Russia was ORIGINALLY PRO-ZIONIST, believing it would become a socialist client state.

However, when Israel also created friendships with the West, Russia did a 360 and concocted the rumour that “Zionism is racism” like a sad, abusive loser who wanted to control and possess a potential partner, but who felt a jilted vengeful instinct to destroy them when they turned out to be their own, confident person.

It’s vital to note that what Russia is doing would have been the fate of British Jews if Jeremy Corbyn had gained power. It would be the fate of Jews in any country where the hard left takes control. People mocked Britain’s Jews and downplayed the racism we experienced from Corbynism. They’d sarcastically make comments mocking the straw man notion that Corbyn would lead us to the gas-chambers - as if going to the gas chambers is the only acceptable measurement of racism against Jews. But as we see, what Russia is doing with the Jewish Agency IS an existential threat to Jewish life. It is inciting hatred against Jews as an alleged enemy within and strangulating the freedom of Jews to live, make choices and express themselves as Jews - which includes expressing their perfectly reasonable cultural, historic, spiritual and indigenous connection with Israel.

This soviet-style extinguishing of Jewish life favoured by Jeremy Corbyn, a self-declared friend of Hamas, is a Russian-created model of antisemitism that denies it is antisemitic and calls itself just anti-Zionist. All we hear from Corbynites is that they are not antisemitic - that they are just against Israel. I myself heard it for four years from the anonymous Corbyn troll I managed to track down and expose as Nicholas Nelson from Cambridgeshire, and who was sent to prison for antisemitic hate crimes.

As Jews in the UK we had always been taught to identify and be prepared for far right antisemitism - a disgusting strain of anti-Jewish hatred. But we failed to educate ourselves on hard left antisemitism and the experiences of Jews living in Soviet regimes. We subsequently had to learn how to recognise and respond to hard left antisemitism on the fly.

And it’s tough.

There’s simplicity to the racism of the far right. It’s easy to recognise and describe. The racism of the far left is more complex. It conceals its hatred in a fraudulent haze of progressive values. The far right takes a simple path to its racism, whereas hard left antisemitism criss-crosses in confusing scribbles of misdirection. It’s an oppression of lies and gaslighting that you have to feel to truly understand. It’s an assault on your inner world and identity, coupled with an attempt to defraud the non-Jewish world on who Jews are. In a Russian-created head-fuck, hard left antisemitism pretends to be a friend to Jews and gives us, what appears to outsiders, a warm hug. But the hug is actually a grip that invisibly squeezes you tight in an attempt to coerce you, to intimidate you, and to restrict your freedom to breathe.

Russia is an Empire of Antisemitism that has pioneered innovative ways to fuck the Jews. These techniques are alive and bouncing vibrantly around the world. As a community we should have educated ourselves more widely on the experiences of Jews who lived in Soviet regimes. It was there but not enough. I don’t blame anyone. It’s understandable why the focus was always on Nazis and the far right. But let’s make sure we educate ourselves on Soviet-style antisemitism now. Let’s make sure we have the eyes to recognise, the language to speak and the movements to act.

What happened in the UK with Corbynism was an attempt to lay the table for a feast of Soviet style antisemitism. Corbyn’s supporters still want to lay down a red table cloth and place a hammer and sickle by the plate as cutlery. If someone like Corbyn ever sits at the head of the table, the starter of anti-Jewish policy would begin very quickly. What Russia is doing now in it’s bid to liquidate the Jewish Agency exposes what hard left societies intend to have for their main course. We have to do all we can to make sure Jews are never on anyone’s menu. We have to support the Jews of Russia, and we have make sure that the Russian Empire of Antisemitism does not manage to gain a foothold in any other country.
